Hustle and Bustle

This jazz-inspired concert overture (ABA'Coda) is my tribute to the busy downtown atmosphere of my hometown, Mobile, AL. Although not as famous as New Orleans or The Big Apple, this city is rich with history both American and musical. The A sections are fast and lively, taking inspiration from the street performers and honking cars that are present at nearly all hours of the day. The slower B section features a lengthy bassoon solo, which paints a calmer picture like sitting in the Cathedral Square park and marveling at the massive old oak trees that shade the place. The coda is a fanfare to the future as parts the percussion and woodwinds become even more hectic, creating an almost cacophonic groove to congratulate the city.
